At a recent mastermind in Mexico one of the worlds top performance/mindset coaches for Olympic athletes, celebrities and top business owners shared an awesome philosophy about scheduling ELITE days. This was a lightbulb moment for me and if you are a entrepreneur or hard worker, it will be for you too…
He noted that many of the entrepreneurs he coaches expect to be super productive every day, something I can relate to for sure. He then goes on to say just like elite athletes have “light” training days and deloads (periods of reduced/easier training) entrepreneur need that too.
For me and many others I know, I’ll get annoyed or demotivated when I have bad working days. For example, days when I don’t get the key tasks done or feel I’ve not moved the needle significant in that given day.
Before this discussion, I had the mindset that I must kill everyday and be super productive. While I still think that mindset is important, thinking more logically, that’s just not realistic or sustainable over years and years. No athlete works at 100% everyday or is the superstar of every game day match, so why would I expect to do the same with my business/work?
He goes on to say that he has both athletes and entrepreneurs schedule their productive days into the week, maybe 2-3 per week, which I’m now going to term my “ELITE DAYS”. With this mindset, I can approach those days at 100% and probably get more done in those 2-3 days than I do in a typical 5.
The best part of this, is I can still get tasks and work done in the rest of the week, but, feel less guilty if they aren’t super productive or if I’m constant delayed and distracted with conference calls, messages, errands, emails, meetings, smaller tasks, etc.
If you are in a similar spot to me, try to schedule in your 2-3 ELITE days, ideally when you have a free day and can really zone in. Give it a ago and let me know how you get on 🤙
